How Our Columbus Ohio Roofers Keep Shingles Out of Landfills

Worthington home new roof

With storm repairs in full swing, the amount of roofing debris entering Columbus landfills every day has increased. At Muth & Company Roofing, we’re doing our part to put used shingles to good use rather than add to local landfill volume. Muth & Company is proud to be among a select group of Columbus Ohio roofers who have become a Certified Green Roofer as part of the GAF Certified Green Roofer Program, designed in consultation with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

The exclusive Certified Green Roofer designation recognizes contractors who are dedicated to the green building movement and environmental responsibility. To participate in the program, Muth & Company abides by the following standards:

• Commit to recycling shingles, metal and other materials from job sites
• Be an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council
• Complete the USGBC-approved training course “Asphalt Shingles and the Green Home”
• Report recycling of shingles, metal and other materials to the GAF Certified Green Roofer Program

In January 2012, GAF recognized Muth & Company Roofing for recycling 757 tons of asphalt shingles. Used shingles that we deliver on a regular basis to a recycling facility in Williamsport are converted into asphalt used to pave America’s streets and highways. We believe contributing to the well-being of our community and world is well worth the extra effort!
